  • Endometriosis and Pelvic Pain

    Endometriosis is a common condition affecting young women. It is associated with pelvic pain, painful periods, pain during intercourse and changes to mood and sleep. Importantly, these conditions can be improved with lifestyle changes, hormonal regulation and in some instances, surgery. Endometriosis can also interfere with fertility

  • Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS)

    PCOS is a hormonal disorder where higher levels of insulin and testosterone hormones are produced and interfere with hormonal changes required for regular ovulation. PCOS can be a contributing factor in subfertility. Women with PCOS have an increased risk of type 2 diabetes, heart disease, stroke and endometrial cancer in the future.

  • Irregular or heavy periods

    Periods which are irregular and/or heavy can cause considerable distress as well as be a sign of underlying health issues. There are options for hormonal and lifestyle changes which can improve period cycles. We have an onsite ultrasound company for when detailed scanning is required.

  • Infertility

    Not falling pregnant when you want can be stressful. We work closely with several fertility specialists and are able to perform initial investigations and treatments for some causes of infertility. Preconception optimisation is important for women and their partners considering pregnancy this includes having up to date dental care, a healthy diet and regular exercise as well as taking an antenatal multivitamin or folate.

  • Recurrent Miscarriage

    Miscarriage is unfortunately a common complication in early pregnancy. Recurrent miscarriage can have wide ranging effects on women, their partners and families. There are several conditions associated with recurrent miscarriage and increasing knowledge about effective treatments. Progesterone is an important pregnancy hormone and has been shown to increase live birth rates in women with a history of miscarriage when used in early pregnancy.

  • Contraception

    The choice of multiple options for contraception can be overwhelming. Additionally, there are several options for long-acting reversible contraception (Mirena, Kylena, copper IUD) as well as permanent contraception. Dr Prue is able to offer simple gynaecological procedures in the rooms or admission to hospital for a general anaesthetic.

  • Menopause

    Menopause can affect your memory, mood, sleep, libido as well as bone and cardiovascular health. Dr Prue is a member of the Australian Menopause Association and is experienced in the use of hormonal and non-hormonal treatments for menopausal symptoms.

  • Pelvic organ prolapse and urinary incontinence

    Pelvic organ prolapse (POP) can cause discomfort and affect your quality of life. There are several options for management including lifestyle and dietary changes, physiotherapy, vaginal oestrogen creams, vaginal pessaries and/or surgery. Some helpful patient information can be found here. There are two types of urinary incontinence- Stress and Urge incontinence- both with several options for management.

  • Colposcopy and Vulvoscopy

    Dr Prue has a current CQuip certificate and is able to perform colposcopy for the management of abnormal cervical screening tests (pap smears) as well as vulvoscopy for the investigation and management of vulval skin disorders such as Lichen Sclerosus.
